Nola-Beede: Possible matchup of the year

As good as the "power conferences" are, you usually don't see two pitchers who have a chance to be top-15 picks match up against each other.

This weekend, we get two of these matchups when Tyler Beede and Vanderbilt face Aaron Nola and LSU, and Carlos Rodon and NC State take on Luke Weaver and Florida State.

Both Beede and Nola have excelled early, putting up outstanding numbers and looking good doing it. Beede has posted a 1.08 ERA in his 25 innings, while striking out 33 hitters and walking five. Nola has been even better statistically, giving up no earned runs in the 2014 season with 36 strikeouts in 27 innings compared to just two walks.

"It's a big matchup," an AL crosschecker said. "And it's the type of outing that can make or break a guy's stock.
