Their elimination game against the Philadelphia Eagles was going to further shape quarterback Tony Romo's legacy while providing owner Jerry Jones with another opportunity to evaluate Jason Garrett's future as head coach. But with a source telling ESPN's Adam Schefter that Romo has a herniated disc, knocking him out until 2014, there can be no fair evaluation on any of these fronts.
What happens now? The spotlight clearly falls on the quarterback position heading into Week 17, but it was likely already there. The injury now raises questions about Romo's longevity and the biggest change as a result may be how the Cowboys should approach the QB position in 2014.
