GRIII enduring freshman slump
By Matt Giles
After he burst onto the college basketball scene, Glenn Robinson III has hit something of a freshman slump in the midst of Big Ten play. He scored only four points in a loss to Wisconsin, and during the past five games, his scoring percentages have been incredibly low: 8.2 points per game. In that same stretch, his true shooting percentage has been 42.4 percent, and while he is connecting on nearly 60 percent of his twos, he has only attempted seven threes.
Part of the problem is a lack of aggressiveness. Since the win over Illinois, Robinson is using 92 percent of Michigan's available minutes, and that includes consecutive overtime contests against Ohio State and the Badgers. However, he has attempted just six field goals per game. Opponents are certainly doing a better job containing the freshman, but GRIII is also trying to prove he is more than just a shooter, and has so far been stymied in his attempts at successfully attacking the basket.
