USD without leading scorer vs. BYU?
By Joe Kaiser
A sprained ankle could prevent San Diego's leading scorer, Johnny Dee, from playing in Thursday's home game against BYU.
Dee, a 6-foot sophomore putting up 14.7 points per game this season, is the only player on the Toreros averaging double-digits, and this is a USD team ranked 235th in the nation in points per game (65.1) so obviously it'll be a huge blow if he cannot play against the Cougars.
“He’s walking on it all right,” Toreros coach Bill Grier told the San Diego Union-Tribune on Tuesday. “I don’t know and won’t know until the day of the game where’s he’s at.”
According to the Union-Tribune's Don Norcross, Dee spent much of yesterday with his left ankle wrapped in ice. If he's unable to play, senior Cameron Miles would probably fill in as the spot starter against BYU.
