Lorenzo Brown's availability against Duke
By Joe Kaiser
NC State Mark Gottfried said Tuesday that Lorenzo Brown (sprained ankle) remains "day-to-day," but the availability of the Wolfpack's starting point guard for Thursday's game with Duke remains very much in question.
Joe Giglio of the Charlotte Observer wrote yesterday that Brown, who has played in 59 straight games and is averaging 14.7 points and 8.7 assists in seven ACC games, went through warmups against Miami on Saturday but was unable to play. His attempt to practice on Monday was cut short after five minutes.
“I cannot imagine that he’s going to be 100 percent by Thursday, but again, I don’t know that,” Gottfried told the newspaper. “We’ll have to wait and see how he responds to the treatment.
“I want him to be 100 percent; I’m not going to put him in danger of injuring his foot worse."
If Brown doesn't play, and right now it looks unlikely that he will, ESPN 100 freshman Tyler Lewis will make the first start of his college career.
