Stanley Johnson visits coming into focus
By Nic Reiner
Last month we wrote 2014 No. 12 Stanley Johnson (Fullerton, CA./Mater Dei) was narrowing down visits, indicating he'd trek to Kentucky, Arizona, Florida, and Oregon, with unofficials to UCLA and USC. His fifth and final visit is expected to be either to Kansas or Duke. Dates are now coming into focus for the 6-foot-6 forward.
Johnson will travel to Kentucky for Big Blue Madness, which will be held on October 18 in Rupp Arena. The preseason event in part has become a recruiting tool, as prospects see the grandeur of Kentucky basketball, its fanbase, and the environment surrounding the program. Top point guard target Emmanuel Mudiay (Arlington, Tex./Prime Prep) will also be at Big Blue Madness weekend.
Johnson will be at Arizona on October 12 for the annual "Red-Blue Game." (Aaron Gordon, a former AAU teammate, will be a freshman at UA.) He will visit Florida on October 30. The Los Angeles schools have made inroads to the California native and he's spoken highly of both the new USC and UCLA coaching staffs.
