Marquette the leader for 2014 Cohen?
By Nic Reiner
Marquette appears to be the frontrunner for ESPN 100 shooting guard Sandy Cohen (Green Bay, Wis./Seymour), whose stock soared due to his play on the spring AAU circuit. The 6-foot-6 Cohen is rated No. 70 in the Class of 2014 and also has offers from Minnesota, Illinois, Purdue, Gonzaga, Florida State, Rutgers, Providence, among others.
Marquette is the Green Bay native's dream school and the team he grew up rooting for.
“I really like Marquette,” Cohen told Rob Dauster at the Kevin Durant Skills Academy. ”Right now Marquette’s probably my favorite. I just like the hometown, I really like Coach Buzz Williams, I just really like Marquette as a whole, as a college and everything.”
Wisconsin has not offered Cohen but would likely be near the top of the list, should they do so.
He says he has not made a decision yet and is trying to keep his options open but we have to think it's Marquette's race to lose now. The pickup would continue a great start for Buzz Williams's 2014 class, as Cohen will offer versatility, athleticism, defensive tenacity, and can play at either guard position or at small forward. Four-star PF Malek Harris committed to the Golden Eagles less than two weeks ago.
