Iona's newest big man
By Luke Lapinski
According to Adam Zagoria, Iona has added a commitment from Daniel Robinson (Norfolk, Va./IMG Academy) today. That gives the Gaels a considerable boost in terms of size up front.
Robinson had chosen to play his college basketball at FIU, but a coaching change there caused him to reconsider. Now Tim Cluess gets a solid 6-foot-10, 215-pound commodity to deploy in the paint. At worst, Robinson figures to be a good rebounder and shot blocker -- the sort of big man that could excel in Iona's up-tempo system. And, if he can develop some of the other aspects of his game while in college, this could prove to be a very nice pickup. He immediately becomes the Gaels' tallest player, and joins an intriguing crop of newcomers that includes transfers Mike Poole (Rutgers) and Kelvin Amayo (Marshall).
