Virginia Tech's big loss
By Joe Kaiser
The top-rated player in Virginia Tech's six-man 2013 recruiting class won't play for the Hokies next season.
Mark Berman of The Roanoke Times reported Tuesday, citing a Virginia Tech source, that 6-foot-4 swingman Donte Clark has been denied admission to the university.
"He did not meet Virginia Tech admission standards, according to a source, for academic reasons regarding his GPA and SAT," Berman wrote.
"Clark will not be enrolling at Tech in a future year, either, said the source."
Described by Recruiting Nation as a "natural scorer," losing Clark would be a crushing blow to a team that's losing the nation's top scorer from a season ago in Erick Green. Making matters worse, if Clark indeed fails to make it into school, is that the rest of the Hokies' 2013 recruiting class isn't very highly touted at all.
