Can Georgia Tech keep its momentum?

By Joe Kaiser

Georgia Tech's 2-6 record in ACC play is a bit deceptive in that the Yellow Jackets have had to play at NC State, Duke and North Carolina, and also had to face a Miami team that looks more and more like one of the best in the land. A win over Virginia on Sunday was a positive step, but can the Yellow Jackets keep it going tonight against Florida State?

Stan Awtrey writes in the Ledger-Enquirer that GT has the size up front with guys like Robert Carter Jr., Daniel Miller and Kammeon Holsey to give the Seminoles' athletic-but-undersized frontline problems.

"These types of big, strong, wide-bodied teams have been more challenging for us," Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton tells the newspaper. "But that's life at this level."

KenPom.com gives the Yellow Jackets a 72 percent chance to win tonight's game, which maybe shouldn't be all that surprising given that FSU's four ACC wins have come by a combined 11 points and their four losses by a combined 68 points. A couple keys for GT in this one will be forcing turnovers -- the Seminoles have turned it over on 21.6 percent of their possessions this season (per Ken Pom), which isn't good -- and also making shots. While FSU's defense isn't the stifling kind we've become accustomed to under coach Hamilton, the Yellow Jackets are a poor shooting team with an adjusted offensive efficiency of 98.0 that ranks No. 200 nationally.
