SMU's chances to land Frazier

By Luke Lapinski

Southern Methodist will host Keith Frazier (Dallas/Kimball) for an official visit, starting today. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard is ranked No. 22 in the class of 2013. Among players left on that list that have yet to commit to a school, he's ranked No. 5.

The Mustangs have three recruits lined up for next year already, including three-star wing Sterling Brown. But they could certainly use a potentially elite talent like Frazier to really get things rolling under new coach Larry Brown. The prolific young scorer possesses a solid jump shot and would likely step right in to contribute immediately if he were to join SMU. By all accounts, he likes Brown and the coaching staff, and the school has the extra added bonus of being very close to home. Texas and Texas A&M -- among others -- are very much in the running here as well though, and it's not as if he'd have to travel all that far to join either of those programs. Our own Recruiting Nation team analyzed Frazier's future and potential impact at the next level, coming away with the conclusion that the Mustangs and Longhorns are the two heavy favorites in this race at the moment.
