Johnson a sleeper for Marquette?

By Luke Lapinski

Buzz Williams and his staff have assembled the No. 13 recruiting haul in the nation for next season. A trio of four-star recruits headline the five-player crop, led by SF Deonte Burton (No. 42 on the ESPN 100) and PG Duane Wilson (No. 57). But it just might be JaJuan Johnson who really grabs some attention for Marquette.

The 6-foot-5, 185-pound shooting guard out of Memphis, Tenn. is ranked No. 64 overall in his class and is constantly improving his game. His shooting range has to be enticing to the Golden Eagles, as well as his overall ability to put the ball in the hoop. Our own Dave Telep thinks the youngster is definitely someone to keep an eye on, ranking him No. 2 on his list of the top 10 potential sleepers in next year's class. He notes that Johnson -- the cousin of NBA player Lou Williams -- is very gifted athletically and has shown hints that the best is yet to come. In fact, Telep even notes that he sees hints of Iman Shumpert when watching Johnson play. In other words, there's plenty of upside here. And, with Trent Lockett exhausting his eligibility this year, playing time could certainly be available for Johnson early on in his college career.
