SEC in Malik Newman's future?

By Joe Kaiser

Distinguished scorer Malik Newman (Jackson, Miss./Callaway) is ESPN's No. 3 ranked player in the class of 2015 -- as well as the top-rated shooting guard -- and he already has an impressive list of offers.

Reggie Rankin of Recruiting Nation writes today that the 6-foot-4, 185-pound sophomore already has offers from all of the SEC except for Kentucky, with UK showing interest along with big-name programs like North Carolina, Louisville, Georgetown, Arizona and Memphis.

Considering that Newman won't take foot on a college court until the fall of 2015, more than two-and-a-half years from now, it's too far off in the distance to even speculate about what he'd mean to some of these programs. But this much we can safely say: the young man can score. He's averaging 25 points a game this season, so it's no wonder the SEC is already all over him.

Here's Rankin with more.

Reggie Rankin
The sky is the limit for Newman
"Newman must still add strength, continue to work on playing every possession and stay in attack mode. He needs to maintain a killer instinct on offense because he has the offensive package to turn a 38-point game into a 50-point outing."
