Jordan Morgan's status for Wednesday

By Joe Kaiser

The ankle sprain suffered by Michigan's starting big man Jordan Morgan against Illinois on Saturday could keep him out for tomorrow's game against Northwestern, according to the Detroit News.

Morgan, a junior, has been extremely durable and reliable during his three-year career in Ann Arbor, starting 88 of 89 games. As the Wolverines' biggest starter, he'd be useful against the Wildcats' 7-footer starter, Alex Olah.

"If he's able to go, we'll need every man on deck for Northwestern, without question," Beilein said Monday.
If Morgan is unable to go, it will force freshman Mitch McGary, redshirt sophomore Jon Horford and possibly even redshirt freshman Max Bielfeldt to fill in. This could be a big opportunity for McGary to step up. At 6-foot-10, 250 pounds, the highly touted ESPN 100 recruit has already established himself as a very strong rebounder, pulling down 5.7 boards in only 16.2 minutes a game. Look for him to get the bulk of the minutes if Morgan misses the game.
