Wyoming dropping off?
By Luke Lapinski
The Mountain West is enjoying a very strong season. Not only will the conference send a number of teams to the NCAA Tournament this March, a few of its members have a legitimate shot of making some noise once they get there.
Of all the schools making a strong push at the start of the year, it was Wyoming who stood undefeated 13 games in. Things have gotten much tougher for the Cowboys though, with Luke Martinez out and dealing with off-the-court issues while the rest of the team has dropped four of six. As our own Andy Katz points out, their loss to Air Force over the weekend puts them in a tough spot. Their resume is looking less impressive now, and meetings with No. 20 New Mexico and Colorado State loom on the horizon this week. In fact, the schedule the rest of the way is anything but easy. Larry Shyatt's squad faces the Lobos and Rams twice, as well as UNLV and No. 23 San Diego State. They also have road trips to Boise State (Feb. 9) and Colorado Springs to take on the Falcons (Feb. 26) -- two teams that have already defeated Wyoming this season.
