Montana poised for another tourney trip?
By Luke Lapinski
Montana has made trips to the NCAA Tournament in two of the last three seasons. And, considering the fact that the Grizzlies are storming through the Big Sky schedule at the moment, another invitation doesn't seem far off.
Following a victory over Weber State on Saturday, Wayne Tinkle's club has jumped out to a 10-0 mark in conference play. Not surprisingly, Will Cherry has been the catalyst, pouring in 28 points to go with six rebounds and four assists in the victory over the Wildcats. The senior guard missed his team's first seven games with a foot injury, but has bounced back in a big way and is looking more and more like the Big Sky Player of the Year candidate that many anticipated he'd be before the season began. If Montana does, in fact, make another return trip to the Big Dance, the presence of Cherry -- along with fellow upperclassmen Kareem Jamar and Mathias Ward -- could make them a tough first round opponent for someone.
