Indiana's bench a concern?
By Joe Kaiser
Indiana's bench managed to score only three points in the Hoosiers' win over Minnesota on Saturday, but at Terry Hutchens of the Indianapolis Star points out there is little reason to believe it's more than a one-game anomaly.
"As a team, Indiana's previous low this season by its bench was 12 points against Georgia," Hutchens writes, adding, "IU's bench players average 25.9 points per game, second-best in the Big Ten Conference."
What's even more impressive, though, is that Indiana's bench is only accounting for 28.7 percent of the team's minutes, which ranks No. 239 in the nation as of today. So not only are they one of the best scoring bench units in arguably the toughest conference in the country, they are getting their points without playing as many minutes as many other schools.
