VCU in driver's seat for 2014 PG?

By Joe Kaiser

On the court, VCU has been on the loser's end in back-to-back games against Richmond and La Salle. But as far as recruiting goes, Shaka Smart's team is set up for big victory when it comes to 2014 point guard Jonathan Williams (Richmond, Va./St. Benedict’s).

The 5-foot-8, 160-pounder still needs to develop physically and become a better shooter, but he has the skill set needed to play for the Rams and serve as an eventual replacement to senior Darius Theus and sophomore Briante Weber.

Dave Telep of ESPN's Recruiting Nation wrote on Friday:
"The Virginia Commonwealth Rams are well positioned for junior point guard Jonathan Williams (Richmond, Va./St. Benedict’s). Head coach Shaka Smart was in Springfield, Mass., last weekend watching Williams at the Hoophall Classic. The kid is a speed demon who values defense. You can see the fit."
