IU cornering the DMV?

By Matt Giles

When Indiana hired Kenny Johnson during the offseason, it was easy to assume the Hoosiers would make recruiting the DC-Maryland-Virginia region -- colloquially known as the DMV -- a priority. Within six months, two highly-regarded recruits from the DMV -- Stanford Robinson and Troy Williams -- committed to Indiana, establishing a solid pipeline from Bloomington to the east coast (perhaps the first one in the history of the IU program).

Brandon Parker of the Washington Post had an interesting take on the pipeline, and noted that both Maurice Creek and Victor Oladipo have AAU ties to the region: both spent some time on Team Takeover.

Crean told Parker he was keen on the prospects in the area because of how well those recruits had been coached, and that the section of the country has an "...unbelievable" amount of talent. It will be interesting to see what players IU continues to target from the DMV, but one that has clearly drawn the eye of Crean and his staff is Dwayne Morgan, a versatile wing in the 2014 class.
