Kentucky's free throw problems
By Joe Kaiser
Kentucky's loss to Alabama last night in Tuscaloosa dropped the Wildcats to 12-6 on the season and added more doubt as to whether John Calipari's team will make the NCAA tournament this season. Again, free throws were a big problem.
For one, UK's young team only attempted 11 shots from the stripe against the Crimson Tide. In the few times they were there, the Wildcats failed to take advantage, connecting on only six shots.
UK is now shooting 64.2 percent from the line this season, which ranks No. 298 nationally per KenPom.com, and in their six losses they have combined to shoot even worse -- 59.6 percent (65-109). In close games like the one last night, especially with every game now having important Big Dance implications, this is a trend the young Wildcats have to find a way to reverse in the weeks ahead.
