What Sina means to the Pirates
By Joe Kaiser
UPDATE: Not only did Jaren Sina trim his list of potential suitors down to three, he appears to have cut it all the way down to one. Multiple outlets are reporting that the four-star point guard will play his college ball with Seton Hall.
The Pirates could certainly use help in the backcourt, especially with Aaron Cosby transferring over to Illinois. Sina's upside at a position of need means he could feasibly step into a decent chunk of minutes right away if all goes well.
Former Northwestern signee Jaren Sina (Lake Hopatcong, N.J./Gill St. Bernard's School) had been considering the likes of Indiana, Alabama, Northwestern and Seton Hall until recently. Now, he's reportedly cut his list down to three.
According to a report from early this morning by Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com, Sina is no longer considering Alabama, the school he originally committed to back in 2010 before ultimately signing with Northwestern.
Zagoria writes: "He will trip to Indiana April 24 and then attempt to make a decision in the following days. Indiana is now in need of additional backcourt help with the transfer of guard Remy Abell. ..."
As far as the other schools are concerned, Zagoria believes that both are hanging in there with Indiana. "Northwestern coach Chris Collins visited Sina Sunday and the player said it 'went well,' writes Zagoria. "Meantime, former Northwestern assistant Freddie Hill is now at Seton Hall, and the Pirates are hoping that connection facilitates a Sina commitment."
