Status of BYU's 2013 recruits
By Matt Giles
Earlier today, we wrote about Nick Emery, a 6-foot-2 guard who drew raves for his play at the recent Hoophall Classic. However, we also wanted to touch on his future teammate, Eric Mika. We have written consistently about Mika, a 6-foot-9 big whose bruising style of play (and perhaps, the edge and intensity with which he plays) will help him win many rebounding battles in Provo. Mika was a revelation during this past summer AAU season, and according to ESPN's Reggie Rankin, Mika would be a very hot commodity on the recruiting trail if he wasn't already committed to BYU.
Jeff Borzello of CBSSports.com, though, has some interesting news about when Mika and Emery plan to go on their missions. Borzello spoke to the future Cougars high school coach and while Emery will leave for his mission following his high school graduation, a move that means he might not take the court officially for BYU until 2015-16, Mika will play his freshman season for coach Dave Rose and then set off for his mission.
