Jabari Parker's role at Duke next season

By Joe Kaiser

When Jabari Parker (Chicago, Ill./Simeon) finally arrives at Duke next fall, there's little question what coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Blue Devils are going to need him to do. They're going to need him to score, and score a lot.

Duke's outgoing senior trio of Mason PlumleeRyan Kelly and Seth Curry have averaged 47.7 points a game between them this season, and it's going to fall largely on Parker -- ESPN's No. 2 recruit in the class of 2013 -- to soften the blow of their departure.

Others will also be expected to carry a bigger load, from Quinn Cook, Rasheed Sulaimon and Amile Jefferson to incoming shooting guard Matt Jones (DeSoto, Texas/DeSoto High) and returning senior shooter Andre Dawkins. But in Parker, Duke will have one of the finest scorers to come out of the high school ranks in a long time.

Here's Adam Finkelstein of ESPN's Recruiting Nation with more.

Parker has an advanced skill set
"Parker’s offensive game is as mature as most NBA veterans. He’s super skilled with a high, compact release to shoot over defenders from the 3-point line and mid-range area alike. He also has terrific poise and decision-making, and excellent shot selection to help him score efficiently. He’s not necessarily the type of guy who is going to create his own shot at will, but his ability to thrive in an offensive structure will help him make an immediate impact next year at Duke, and also give him longevity down the road."
