Why GRIII is so valuable to Michigan
By Luke Lapinski
Michigan is having great success this season because it gets production from a number of different players. Three of those main weapons are freshmen and one -- Glen Robinson III -- still seems to fly under the radar a bit when the nation's best first-year standouts are being discussed.
That's not to say he's getting completely overlooked, but he wasn't necessarily being mentioned in the same sentence as the Shabazz Muhammads and Marcus Smarts of the world for awhile there. That's changing now though. John Gasaway currently has Robinson ranked No. 5 among all freshmen, noting his sustained effectiveness as his best attribute. The young forward started his career with a near double-double, poured in 21 points in his second outing and has found ways to contribute in all 18 of the Wolverines' games so far. What's more, he rarely turns the ball over and the fact that he's playing a prominent role (nearly 32 minutes a night) for one of the top teams in the country only enhances his resume.
