When Antonio Barton returns

By Joe Kaiser

Memphis' key reserve Antonio Barton has missed four games (five, if you don't count the one minute he played before going down against Southern Miss) with a foot injury, but his return to the court may not be too far away.

"Memphis guard Antonio Barton is no longer in a boot or using crutches and could return for the Conference-USA Tournament, per Josh Pastner," Jon Rothstein of CBSSports.com tweeted yesterday.

Barton is averaging career-lows in minutes (18.7), points (6.2), rebounds (1.4) and assists (1.2) this season, and the Tigers have won easily in every game he's been out, but his experience, defense and athleticism off the bench are things Pastner would like to be able to count on come tournament time.

We'll let you know if we hear more on Barton's status.
