Porter's elite status

By Matt Giles

There has been an outpouring of praise for Otto Porter recently. Luke Winn of Sports Illustrated analyzed Porter's play with and without Greg Whittington, and noted that Porter's offensive usage is now close to 30 percent (from his nadir of 22 percent when Whittington was on the court). However, what is also interesting is that Porter's offensive rating has skyrocketed to nearly 150.

Porter recently scored 33 points against Syracuse, securing a win for Georgetown in the two teams' final Big East matchup. The Hoyas are arguably the hottest team in the nation, and much of their success is due to how well Porter is playing. Porter has used roughly 197 possession in Big East play, and his true shooting is an impressive 66 percent. If Porter continues to play at this rate, Georgetown could be the team to watch entering March.
