Recruiting flurry to continue for Kansas?

By Nic Reiner

Kansas is in the middle of a pivotal recruiting stretch that continues this weekend. Next year, Bill Self's team will lose senior contributors Elijah Johnson, Jeff Withey, Travis Releford, and star freshman Ben McLemore. In addition to existing returners stepping up, the next two recruiting classes play a big role in how high national title chances can be in the next few years.

The class of 2013 recruiting season is by no means through and the Jayhawks already have ESPN's third-best 2013 class at the moment. Like most years, their stable is filled with blue-chippers, including five-star small forward Wayne Selden, and four-star guys wing Brannen Greene and point guard Conner Frankamp. ESPN's No. 3 Julius Randle is front and center on the table and Kansas is likely in his top 3 he mentioned earlier this week.

But this weekend, eyes in Lawrence also turn to some jewels in the class of 2014. There's a long way to go but the rumblings about Kansas' potential 2014 haul certainly bode well for Jayhawks fans. Here's Dave Telep with more.

Another key recruiting weekend for Kansas
"The Kansas Jayhawks had Julius Randle (Dallas/Prestonwood Academy) on campus last weekend. (This weekend) Self and his crew will -- weather permitting -- host a pair of big-time recruits. Tyus Jones and ESPN 60 No. 10 Justise Winslow (Houston/St. John’s) will be on campus together. We know Jones and No. 1 overall junior Jahlil Okafor (Chicago/Whitney Young) are talking about going to school together. Recently, Winslow put himself into that conversation. Kansas is one of the only common schools on the trio's lists. It’s unlikely someone gets all three, but you never know."
