Gardner overlooked again

Davante Gardner was not the star of Marquette's overtime (and buzzer-beater) win over St. John's; Vander Blue deserves praise for making consecutive jaw-dropping lay-ups to push Marquette to victory, but Gardner, a junior, has arguably been the Golden Eagles' top player this season. However, when the Big East recently announced their all-conference selections, Gardner was merely afforded an honorable mention slot, and one could easily make the case that Gardner was on the level this season of Jack Cooley, the Big East's sole first-team frontcourt choice.
