Granderson an obvious upgrade for Mets

The New York Mets' four-year, $60 million deal with Curtis Granderson addresses a very dire need, as their 2013 corner outfielders ranked somewhere between leeching and homeopathy on the effectiveness scale. Even if Granderson, recovered from two fractures that ruined his 2013 season, only gets back to where he was in 2012, he'll help the Mets right away -- but his age and low contact rate don't bode well for him remaining so through the end of the contract.

The Mets get about a two-win boost from Granderson, considering all aspects of his game, versus the collection of left fielders they used in 2013.
