Chris Young an imperfect fit with Mets

I had tabbed Chris Young as one of my top potential bargains in free agency this year, a talented player coming off injuries and poor performance who might accept a low-base one-year contract to play center for someone and re-establish some value.

The New York Mets' one-year deal with him fits that rubric, but the $7.25 million guarantee banks on a big rebound in his offensive game. The presence of Juan Lagares means Young will play a position where his defense might have less value and where the offensive standard is even higher.
