O'Leary due for extension at UCF
By Vince Verhei
George O'Leary's contract with the Central Florida Knights is set to expire after the 2015 season, but Paul Tenorio of the Orlando Sentinel reports that the school is working on a deal that would keep him in town for two years after that.
"UCF athletics director Todd Stansbury told the Orlando Sentinel UCF Athletics Association is close to wrapping up O'Leary's revised contract that would expire in early 2018," he writes.
"Specific terms of the deal were not released. O'Leary was set to make a minimum of $998,073 in base salary during the final three years of his current deal, with as much as an additional $1.5 million in bonuses for the team's success on the field and in the classroom."
"Obviously, it brings stability and [helps] in recruiting, and if you look at his record here he is graduating his student athletes and has two 10-win seasons in the last three years," UCF athletics director Todd Stansbury said before UCF's. "And with the conference changes, it provides a steady hand at the wheel."
