Wyatt's upside

By Luke Lapinski

Heading into tonight's tilt with rival La Salle, Temple is firmly entrenched on the bubble. Some feel Fran Dunphy's squad is on the right side of the cutoff line, but Joe Lunardi currently has them just outside the Field of 68. There's still time to make a move one way or the other though, and the game against the Explorers is a good opportunity for a quality win against a club headed for the postseason.

For the Owls to land in the NCAA Tournament, they'll need continued top-end production from Khalif Wyatt. Chad Ford and Jay Bilas recently discussed the strong crop of wings in the college game this season, and Bilas ranks the senior guard right there with the rest of them. He notes that Wyatt doesn't have the NBA chops of guys like Ben McLemore or Shabazz Muhammad, but he does know how to get the job done every time he hits the floor for Temple. That could eventually land him a job at the next level. And, for now, his 19.8 points and 4.0 assists per game are keeping the Owls right in the thick of the bubble race.
