Hardesty to get long look

By AJ Mass

Baseball season is just around the corner, but for the Cleveland Browns, player assessment at this time of year is just as important as it is for the Indians. According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Montario Hardesty is a player that the new coaching staff is putting under the microscope.

Although Trent Richardson is going to be the "bell cow" in the backfield, word is that the team would feel better with a second option in place, not only to keep Richardson fresh, but also as an emergency plan should injury set in. Hardesty himself missed the 2010 season with knee surgery, but did average 4.2 yards on his 65 carries last season.

Hardesty is only due $630,000 should the team keep him on board, so the price seems right to keep him in their back pocket, just in case, rather than to spend wildly at the running back position on the free agent market.
