Timeline, expectations for Locker
By Tom Carpenter
With good reason, Jake Locker is owned in just 2.2 percent of ESPN fantasy football leagues. However, it sounds like he should be back in action at some point in the coming weeks. Perhaps as soon as Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.
“We haven’t decided yet [whether Locker will play]. We are not really leaning any way, it’s just Jake has done well," coach Mike Munchak said Friday. "He has been able to do everything we wanted him to do, so now we need to spend some time with him, talk as an offense, and decide what we think is best for Sunday.”
Locker has practiced the past three days and said he wants to play. Munchak said he intends to make a decision by Saturday.
There isn't much reason to add Locker to fantasy rosters in the short term, because the Titans face the difficult Niners D this weekend before taking their bye the following week. Even once he gets back to full speed, Locker may not be a reliable fantasy play due to the Titans' schedule. While they have some promising matchups against the St. Louis Rams, Denver Broncos and a pair of games versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, they also have tougher matchups against the Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans and a pair of tilts versus the Indianapolis Colts.
Still, if you own a team in a two-QB league and are struggling with injuries, adding Locker at some point in the next couple of weeks may at least give you a spot-starter in the second half of the season during those weeks when he has a decent matchup.
