Where the Jazz need to improve most
By Joe Kaiser
The Utah Jazz are 8-2 in their last 10 games, but they are also coming off that brutal 45-point home loss to Houston so things aren't exactly A-ok right now. Defense is one area in particular where the Jazz have really struggled of late.
David Locke, the forever numbers-crunching radio voice of the Jazz, writes today, "Last 10 games Jazz are 29th in defensive FG% and 26th in defending the 3 combining for 29th in [Effective] FG%." Locke also adds that the team is 29th in EFG% over the last 20 games.
For the season, the Jazz are down to No. 25 in the league in defensive efficiency, allowing 104.9 points per 100 possessions, and No. 11 in offensive efficiency (103.3) is a No. 11 in the league. That net efficiency of -1.6 isn't going to cut it if the Jazz end up making the playoffs, and improved defensive play is one big way the team will need to improve in the months ahead.
