Walker a likely lottery pick in 2014?
By Luke Lapinski
With the 2013 NBA draft all wrapped up, our own Chad Ford already has his big board up for next year. Andrew Wiggins isn't exactly a surprise as the projected No. 1 pick, but there are some interesting storylines emerging already. Joel Embiid joins Wiggins near the top, giving Kansas two players in the projected first seven picks. And Kentucky jumps in with its usual influx of talent, landing three guys in the top 12 to start things off.
Florida's Chris Walker is also among the top ten -- a well-known commodity to Gator supporters and certainly within recruiting circles, but not exactly a household name to NBA fans just yet. Still, he comes in at No. 9 overall as he enters his first year of college ball and his pedigree speaks for itself. He joins Billy Donovan's group as the No. 12 prospect in a loaded recruiting class, bringing the sort of impressive athleticism to Florida that should allow him to make an impact from just about anywhere on the floor. If Walker plays to his potential, he certainly has the makeup of someone with the ability to make the jump after one year. And that's a common theme near the top of the 2014 board at the moment, as seven of the top ten prospects will be freshmen in the fall.
