Brooks' coaching reputation on the line?
By Nick Borges
The Oklahoma City Thunder have won five playoff series in the last two years with Scott Brooks as the head coach, which is fantastic, but some say his reputation will take a major hit if the Thunder can't take out the Houston Rockets after leading 3-0.
From Berry Tramel of The Oklahoman: "Brooks' coaching reputation is on the line as this remade Thunder-Rockets series hits the homestretch ... Brooks does not want to coach the first team in NBA history to lose a series after leading three games to none. ... The Thunder is an overwhelming success story, which is why Brooks' coaching pedigree has zoomed. But the next day or three are the biggest challenge of his career."
Tramel is right that Brooks will be heavily criticized if the Thunder can't win one of the last two games of the series and adjustments should be made on Friday. Brooks had his players intentionally foul Omer Asik in Game 4 since he was a poor free throw shooter in the regular season, but that backfired. He also needs to figure out how to get other players involved to take all the defensive pressure off Kevin Durant.
