Blount's role for New England
By Tim Kavanagh
To some, the New England Patriots' trade for RB LeGarrette Blount was a bit of a head-scratcher; the team is well-stocked at RB, and the player they did lose (Danny Woodhead) is an entirely different type of RB than Blount. Nevertheless, the Oregon product joined the team this week, and now we look ahead to what kind of an impact he'll have on his new club.
According to the Boston Herald, Pats lead back Stevan Ridley was asked what kind of game Blount brings to the team, and he replied, "All kinds of stuff. You're looking at a guy who is 260 pounds, a powerful runner. You're looking at a guy who is coming in here to a stable of backs. We just had lunch, just talked a little bit, and now we're excited about it. The job is not going to be given to anybody. You've got to work to get it. With us four in there, I think all four of us can contribute."
Ridley and Blount will be joined by Shane Vereen, Brandon Bolden and Leon Washington.
