LeBron's $1M donation to St. V-M
By Nick Borges
LeBron James may be playing in Miami, but he has never forgotten his roots and the love for his high school, St. Vincent-St. Mary. The school is in the process of building a new gym and James has donated $1 million to make it happen.
“I’m a hands-on guy and this is going to be more hands-on because it’s something that means a lot to me,” James told the Akron Beacon-Journal. “I’ll try to be hands on with Coach Dru, with the school, with the floor, the locker rooms, the bleachers. … I have a good sense of what stadiums or arenas or schools or gyms should look like.”
James was vilified for leaving Cleveland for South Beach, but this action along with other charitable contributions from him should finally end all the vitriol from the Cavs' fans.
“LeBron has never left St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, or the Akron community for that matter,” says Patty Burdon, St. V-M public relations manager. “He’s been giving since the day he left.”
