Lakers' back-to-back bugaboo
By Joe Kaiser
If the Los Angeles Lakers manage to beat the undermanned Portland squad tonight, maintaining a slim lead on Utah for the 8th and final playoff spot in the West, they'll need to buck a troubling trend that has plagued them all season.
The Lakers have yet to win both games of a back-to-back this season, as Eric Pincus points out, in 15 such opportunities.
Basketball-reference.com gives both L.A. and Portland a 50 percent chance to win tonight, but with the Lakers badly needing this one and the Blazers expected to be without Wesley Matthews and Nic Batum, one has to believe Mike D'Antoni's team will have a good chance to come out victorious.
