More hints on the Jags' No. 2 pick
By Tim Kavanagh
With three weeks to go before the start of the 2012 NFL Draft, the amount of chatter on who will be selecting whom has ramped up, especially since much of the free agent class has been picked clean to this point. Though there is a lack of clarity in regard to who the Kansas City Chiefs will take at No. 1, there's an equal amount of speculation on the No. 2 pick, currently possessed by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Unlike the Chiefs -- who have been quite busy during free agency -- the Jags have hung back, waiting to pounce on FAs who will come at a more team-friendly rate (and hopefully out-produce those contracts). But that has also left them with substantial needs in different areas of the roster, meaning that just about every prospect in this year's draft class could be the pick for them at No. 2. This week, the Jags hosted three of those top prospects for pre-draft visits, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union: DE/OLB Dion Jordan and OTs Luke Joeckel and Eric Fisher.
This trio joins DT Sharrif Floyd, QB EJ Manuel and WR Ryan Swope as individuals that have visited the club. Floyd and the group from this week are all likely under consideration at No. 2, while the others could be the pick with the first selection in Round 2 (No. 33 overall) or later. ESPN AFC South blogger Paul Kuharsky assesses the fit for the projected first-rounders in Jacksonville:
