Potential replacements for injured Farmer
By Brent Sobleski
USC is in the unfortunate position to replace George Farmer as a MRI revealed the worst for the wide receiver. Farmer was carted off the field Tuesday after his knee gave out during a non-contact drill. Farmer is now lost for the season due to a torn ACL according to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times.
The Trojans must now find a replacement to become the team's No. 3 wide receiver.
"Senior De’Von Flournoy, sophomore Victor Blackwell and freshman Darreus Rogers are competing for the No. 3 spot," Klein wrote. "Freshman Steven Mitchell will arrive during the summer."
The trio of wide receivers currently on campus combined for two receptions last season -- one more than Farmer had.
Flourney will get the first opportunity to replace Farmer. Flourney is a senior, and he played in 16 games the past two seasons. He's simply never been higher than fourth on the depth chart. This could be the opportunity he needs to finally make an impact with the Trojans.
