Say this for Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Jose Reyes: He certainly didn’t waste any time getting injured this season. The speedy but brittle fourth-round selection in ESPN live drafts left Monday’s game with what was called hamstring tightness after only one at-bat and before the evening was over he already had been placed on the 15-day disabled list. It’s hardly shocking news that Reyes is hurt again, but really, after one at-bat? Couldn’t he have at least waited until the weekend?

Reyes was hobbled for the past few weeks by this hamstring malady -- hardly a first for him -- but remained adamant he would play on Opening Day. Well, he did play, lining out to center fielder Desmond Jennings, but just not enough for anyone's taste. Reyes was able to perform in weekend exhibition games against the New York Mets played in Montreal. Clearly, he exacerbated the injury early Monday; an MRI is pending and Reyes will miss at least the next two weeks to heal. While it's easy to be skeptical about Reyes long term and move on from him for fantasy purposes, it's a bit premature to panic. It remains possible Reyes misses only a few weeks and is fine, though it's also worth noting he has played more than 133 games in only one of the past five seasons. In other words, with him it's always buyer beware.
