That’s two games down, potentially 2,428 to go in this 2014 season! The Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks got things started down under in Australia this weekend -- well, mostly the Dodgers did -- and by the way, fantasy owners, these statistics do count. If you’re drafting in a day, three days, 20 days, these statistics count, too. Everything is backdated. Regardless, I saw these games and certainly have some thoughts, both positive and negative.

On the Dodgers' side, outfielder Yasiel Puig appears flat-out nuts, and it concerns me a tad. Yes, he responded from his 0-for-5 in the first game with three hits and a pair of RBIs in the second, but he also ran himself into needless multiple outs on the bases and didn’t take the field the final inning due to a sore back, though his exasperated manager, Don Mattingly, didn’t seem to know what the ailment was. One cannot deny that Puig looks considerably heavier than last year, and one doesn’t need to be a dietician to know that extra weight can trigger back woes.
