Bits: Time to buy low on Francisco Liriano

April, 14, 2011

Minnesota Twins left-hander Francisco Liriano lost his third consecutive start Wednesday, allowing seven runs in five innings against the Kansas City Royals. Liriano's ERA sits at 9.42, his WHIP at 1.74, and ... if you can pry this top-20 starting pitcher from his owner, you should do it. Assuming health, Liriano should be fine.

What will Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen do with his bullpen now? Chris Sale (7.36 ERA) allowed three runs without getting an out in the ninth inning Wednesday, while Matt Thornton (7.71 ERA) allowed three more runs in losing the game in the 10th. Don't be surprised if right-hander Sergio Santos gets the next save chance.
