One of my favorite players to watch while seeing spring games in Arizona last week was Oakland Athletics outfielder Billy Burns, because pretty much every time the guy got on base -- and he was on base quite a bit -- he tried to steal second. And at least when I was watching, he was always safe. The relatively unknown Burns is a legit, top-notch base stealer with 80 speed on the 20-80 scouting scale, and it sure would be a blast if he somehow made the Athletics in a few weeks, because he could do some damage for fantasy owners.

Alas, Burns is 24 years old and has yet to see action higher than Double-A ball, which is where he's likely headed any day now. In addition to his own development, there's the issue of there not being any room for him in the Oakland outfield, where Yoenis Cespedes, Coco Crisp and Josh Reddick are starting, with Brandon Moss capable of handling a corner spot and Craig Gentry being an ideal fourth outfielder, speedy and terrific defensively.
