Sneaky pickups entering Week 15
One of the main reasons the Minnesota Vikings possess a successful rushing offense is obviously because one of the best running backs in the league generates the yards. The problem is: As of Friday morning, it’s not looking so good for superstar Adrian Peterson and his injured foot to suit up Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, which is why backup Toby Gerhart has become a must-add in case he’s starting. Then again, things are seldom this simple in fantasy football; Gerhart is dealing with his own hamstring injury and he might not be able to go as well!
Next man up for the Vikings is apparently 26-year-old Matt Asiata, an undrafted Utah product who received a few rushing attempts for the Vikings in 2012 and by many accounts does a decent job on special teams. He is, however, a running back and the Vikings are going nowhere, which is why it’s certainly feasible that the unknown Asiata sees considerable opportunity in the final few games with the franchise player hurting. Would you play someone like Asiata in a fantasy league? Well, sight unseen it’s incredibly risky, but did you know anything about Bobby Rainey before he exploded in Week 11?
