Sneaky pickups entering Week 6
Many fantasy owners seem more interested in injured players on the road to recovery as opposed to healthier, younger players on the verge of seeing opportunity, so this week in the Friday Sneaky Pickups blog entry, we’ll feed the frenzy and focus on the relevant players with that all-important asterisk next to their name in ESPN leagues. These are players regarded as "out" for various lengths of time, and we'll ignore the players such as Julio Jones and Ahmad Bradshaw who are out for the season. These players below should return. Here are my thoughts on them and their value.
Quarterback: The two main asterisked options here are Buffalo Bills rookie EJ Manuel (16.6 percent owned) and Tennessee Titans starter Jake Locker (2.5 percent), and in neither case would a 10- or 12-team owner be desperate to get them back. Manuel (knee) has more upside, but Locker (hip) was more reliable, with a 27-point game in Week 3 and nary an interception in 111 attempts. If looking for December help, each has road tilts at Jacksonville, so that’s attractive. I’d take Manuel, but can’t imagine relying on either in the fantasy playoffs.
