Liriano's winter performance raises summer hopes

Francisco Liriano was absolutely Dealin', with a capital D.

While many people were watching a "Grey's Anatomy" rerun Thursday night, I was checking out ESPN360.com, becoming fixated on Liriano fanning 10 hitters for Leones del Escogido in the Dominican Winter League championship. I also followed along as ESPN The Magazine baseball colleague Jorge Arangure tweeted his thoughts and updates on what was a really good game in a really good nine-game series. Liriano looked terrific in his five scoreless innings, allowing only one hit and overpowering more than a few Gigantes del Cibao hitters. Leones won the game 5-3 to advance to the Caribbean Series next week. Man, I love baseball.
