Why, yes, to answer a question I can feel many might be planning to ask, plenty of football-related discussions do seem to start with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. For fantasy football purposes, I think we’re past the point in which the general cognoscenti are concerned about Brady’s age or weaponry or schedule or anything like that. But this season, thanks to ridiculous forces from a while ago, there’s a four-game suspension looming. The punishment could be reduced at some point, but as my personal rankings, including my top 100 are revealed at ESPN Fantasy in case someone is drafting today, speculating is tough.
Therefore, Brady needs to be ranked today as if Jimmy Garoppolo starts at QB for four weeks, which is fine. Clarity, frankly, is half the battle. My rankings are pretty straightforward, at least to me. You should disagree with something. Heck, I disagree with several things as well, and there will be changes as the summer goes on. Heck, it’s not even summer yet as I type this! But football is a year-round sport and that’s a good thing. Hopefully these early rankings are, too. I consider myriad factors, but the bottom line is this: How and where do I value these players, and in which spots/rounds would I select them, assuming a standard (10-team, non-PPR) format?
